I BEEN A BLOGGER FOR A FEW YEARS NOW.  I'VE NEVER SEEN SOOOOO MANY DEMO'S LEAKING IN MY LIFE.  I CAN'T STAND TO HEAR SOME OTHER GROUP SING A NEW DANITY KANE SONG, OR HEARING OTHER VERSIONS FROM WRITERS AFTER THE ORIGINAL LEAKS OR SOMETIME EVEN BEFORE THE ORIGINAL COMES OUT.  IF I WAS A PRODUCER OR AN ARTIST I WOULD HATE THAT.  IT'S RUINING MUSIC.

i agree.  i don't think there shuold be five leaked versions of a new "Brandy" song before we here "Brandy"

on it.  I'd rather just hear the final version.  These writers are leaking these records because they have a solo career

in mind.  I think that is cool, but it cheapens the original record.  It makes these bigger artists just look like puppets.

As a songwriter, I think it's interesting to hear demo versions and know the story behind the song. But as a listener, it does take away from the enjoyment of the final product when you've heard so many versions and seen each version picked apart by catty blog posters.

ur all right. no one wants to hear 5 versions of one record but to blame the writer or producer is just foolish have of the time they dont even know that the record is out. but the best way to avoid your aggravation is to not DL the leaked demo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

True that leaked rough versions dampen the impact of the intended final versions

I so disagree ZoMatthew

1.  Most of the time these demo's are actually thought to be actual versions until (3 months later) a big star is on it????

2.  All these demo singers are leaking these songs on purpose for exposure, lets be honest here.

3.  IT SOOOOOO ruins these songs. 

4.  If I was an actual artist I would be so upset the demo singer released their version.  It's just not right.

seems like the case your trying to defend is a case of people having selective-ignorance

who doesn't know by now these days that a leaked song with James Fauntleroy's name or some unknown name isn't a demo???
like a song gets released with no affiliation or mention from some major record label or an established artist co-signing them?

Why didn't you actually read what Zo said, you don't HAVE TO DOWNLOAD THE FILE. If you don't want to hear the track don't fucking download it, some of us who are interested in writers and producers like to see the original take of the track...

yea but i get tricked into downloading songs that turn out to be demo's and I hate that too.  I agree with this post.

As a producer I would really upset with my demo writer and arranger if they had leaked records prematurely.  Demo's are made for the purpose of rough-drafting.  Not for ears of critics.

if the people in the music industry were clever enough they would keep all thier demos safe and secure., it cant be that hard.. the only thing that should leak is snippits of tracks. to get people talking about it.

when u here a full demo of a track months b4 the real one comes out then ur left thinking im sick of this already.. and sometimes even.. i prefer the demo version! thats not a good look

$0For sure, Security is a Huuuuge factor, actually set a release date. make sure nothing actually leaks, and if stuff does leak find out where its comming from.$0$0$0$0$0The Industry is really focused on people downloading and mp3z etc, but they really need to stop it happening from within their own camps, id like to refer to my other post$0$0$0$0$0$0$0$0about the whole situation: $0$0$0$0$0$0$0$0" The Majors, (Sony bmg, universal, emi, warner) what is their deal? they've really fallen off lately. They're in this huge panic about mp3z and decline in cd  sales for the last couple of years with less and less profits, they've been struggling with this for the last couple of years as we alll know. $0$0$0$0$0$0$0$0they could help themselves a bit by actually setting a release date and releasing an album on that actual date, instead of like 5 album release date changes and in some cases, shelving a really good album. and get some hardcore security when it comes to stop getting tracks leaked early, im not sure maybe there's not a 100percent way to stop that from happening, but i think there might be.$0$0$0$0$0$0$0$0I think the major labels will get smaller and smaller and will probably eventually only be able to live off their back catalogs, but in saying that i think it gives a good oppurtunity for some new players in the game LiveNation and Myspace Music for example, pretty impressed with their business models and i think they'll become a new age "Majors" and will give other entrepeanues that are able to find ways to make money from music to become the new majors.$0$0$0$0$0$0$0$0The deal between the majors and myspace is pretty intresting huge step towards where will this industry will be going. RMX4U is the only place really leaking them anymore.  and that site is dying down now too.  thats cuz all the leak is demos, thats it.
